UPCOMING EVENTS FOR INCOMING STUDENTS
HPHS Band is happy to welcome the middle school students from Northwood and Edgewood to join us for several events.
These events are designed to allow middle school students to get to know the faculty and students in the HPHS band program as well as be a part of the music-making at the next level.
Each middle school director will provide more details about each event.
Marching Band Experience: TBD
Come join the Marching Giants for an afternoon of music, fun, and food! Middle School students will get to rehearse with the Marching Giants for a portion of rehearsal. They will learn some basic marching technique, learn how to plot a formation on the field, watch a private performance by the high school band, and have plenty of time for food and friendship! Come catch a glimpse of what it feels like to be a Marching Giant!
All-City Band Festival: TBD
A Highland Park tradition in which the middle school and high school bands share the HPHS auditorium stage for an evening of wonderful music-making. Bands of all grade levels will perform together and separately. In preparation for this event, you will have an opportunity to take a field trip to the HPHS band room to rehearse!
Honor Band: TBD
Looking to play your instrument more? Want to make some friends in high school? Willing to challenge yourself musically? Honor Band is the place for you! These weekly rehearsals with Mr. Chodoroff take place in the HPHS Band Room. It will be an experience which changes your life!
Pep Band Night: TBD
Higher, faster, and louder...the way the HPHS Pep Band likes to play! Join the Pep Band for the night and you will get to play some of your favorite popular tunes, have a pizza dinner, and be a part of the energy of a varsity basketball game!
Jazz Night: TBD
April is National Jazz in our Schools Month! Let's celebrate by having the Middle School and High School Jazz Bands collaborate on this concert! Join us for a night of good swing, food, and friendship!
